Furlan Marri Disco Volante "Disco Celeste"
$2,250.00
THE LINE BETWEEN MICRO & INDEPENDENT
When Furlan Marri debuted their sub $1,000 love letter to the Patek Philippe 1463 “Tasti Tondi”, the brand was met with equal praise and criticism. On one hand, here is a watch that gives you proper vintage sensibilities without having to worry about obliterating the thing on a door jamb. On the other hand, the watch fell suit to another mecaquartz powered “micro” that tip-toed the line between “inspired” & “homage”.
A few years later in 2024 for their *third* member-if including the limited flyback chronograph-of the mechanically powered family, Furlan Marri released the Disco Volante. “Disco Volante”-meaning flying saucer in Italian, was a termed dubbed to the lug-less watches of the mid-century. To me, this release really began to separate the brand from other micro brands that leaned heavily on vintage queues. Everything from the stepped case, circular lume track, and the Peseux 7001 base movement with over 40 hours of hand finishing all lends itself to a unique design that has begun to situate the brand in that delta between micro’s & independents. Anyways, the brand continues to knock it out of the park and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
